I’m a big believer in the power of a smile to brighten someone’s day. Yes, I am totally the weirdo stranger in the red lipstick who grinned at you in the Target parking lot while two small children covered in stickers dangled on her arms and legs. I smile a lot. Sorry if my enthusiasm frightened you.
A few months ago I noticed that my teeth were looking a little dull. (A very regular coffee and red wine habit can do that to you. But they’re delicious so I don’t foresee a future without them.) Have you ever noticed that when you’re wearing a white shirt? And you think “yikes, my teeth are not anywhere near the color of my shirt”. Surely I’m not alone in this.
Here’s a photo I loved until I noticed my teeth next to my daughter’s very white shirt. (PS she was upset because I wouldn’t buy her a third cup of food for the goats at the pumpkin patch. Being a toddler is tough, y’all.)
I contemplated trying the kinds of whitening kits you can buy in the store. I did one a few years ago and the experience was okay. Not great. Ultimately I just didn’t see the big results I was hoping for.
I considered visiting my dentist for a professional whitening but I was hesitant because (a) balancing my toddler in my lap at the dentist is no easy feat and (b) I was worried about the price.
Enter Smile Brilliant. When this company reached out to me I was ecstatic. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect. Once I learned about their process and read the reviews I knew this was a solution I wanted to try.
A few days later I received my professional teeth whitening system. It contained two trays, putty, teeth whitening gel, desensitizing gel, and very clear instructions.
The first thing I did was make my dental impressions using the putty and trays. My son found this part particularly hilarious. My mouth was really full of putty. It wasn’t hard or time consuming at all. I then mailed the impressions to the lovely folks at Smile Brilliant using the envelope they provided. Their lab created trays specially designed to fit my teeth and sent them to me. That entire process took about a week.
With my new trays in hand it was time to start whitening. It’s really as easy as applying the whitening gel to the trays and placing them in your mouth. Once you’ve finished whitening you then rinse and dry your trays, apply the desensitizing gel, and pop them back in for around 15 minutes.
I was shocked that I could see results after just the first application. I definitely did not expect that!
I have really sensitive teeth so I elected to spread out my whitening a bit. Instead of using it every day I alternated days. That worked like a charm and did not in anyway dampen my results. If you have sensitive teeth too you might like to check out these causes, solutions, and tips for prevention of teeth sensitivity. While you’re at their website you’ll also find that they have an incredible customer service team you can chat with. I love when companies provide that so I don’t have to pick up the phone if I have a question! Ain’t nobody got time for that, right?
Here’s a little video (not by me) to show you the teeth whitening process.
My opinion? I loved this. I’m so impressed with the company, the kit, and the end results. I am really happy to recommend Smile Brilliant to you. I will most definitely be recommending it to my friends and family.
So you saw my before photo where my teeth were looking a little dull. Care to see the after?
Much better, right? And my goodness that’s a lot of enthusiasm in my face!
Now if only I had a non-surgical fix for my perpetual under eye wrinkles I’d be all set. Kidding. Kidding. They’re evidence of a happy well-lived life blah blah blah. That’s what I’m supposed to say, right?
