These are the best mushrooms with lots of juicy flavor! You only need sliced mushrooms, a little oil or an oil spray, and a few simple seasonings to make them.
My name is Christina and I’m a mushroom lover. I think they’re a pretty perfect side dish. I also love adding them to steak, chicken, pasta, scrambled eggs, roasted potatoes, and veggies.
I’m always game to try new methods for cooking mushrooms and I was so pleased to discover that once again the air fryer proved to be quite magical and convenient! This air fryer mushroom recipe will prove to you that the air fryer is the best way. With this method you’ll need less oil and a short cooking time!
I can’t wait for you to enjoy these perfectly seasoned golden brown mushrooms.
Ingredients for Air Fryer Sliced Mushrooms
- Sliced mushrooms: You can use a few different types of mushrooms but I prefer sliced baby portobello mushrooms. Cremini mushrooms and white button mushrooms are great options too. You want to avoid larger mushrooms and whole mushrooms because they’ll increase your cook time.
- Olive oil: A small amount of extra virgin olive oil or an oil spray will help make these mushrooms tender.
- Seasonings: Dried oregano, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper flavor the sliced mushrooms but you can add whatever spices or herbs you like.
How to Make Air Fryer Sliced Mushrooms
Rinse the mushrooms with water to remove any dirt or wipe with a damp paper towel. Pat dry with paper towels. Add the sliced mushrooms, oil, dried oregano, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper to a medium bowl. Toss to coat the mushrooms in the oil and seasonings. (If using an oil spray you can spray the mushrooms while in the bowl and stir so they are coated in seasoning.)
Spread the mushrooms in a single layer in the preheated air fryer. Air fry mushrooms for 10 minutes. Check for doneness. Cook for another 2 to 5 minutes if you’d like your mushrooms to have crispy edges. And that’s it! This is truly the easiest way to whip up buttery mushrooms!
How to Customize Air Fryer Sliced Mushrooms
I think the seasonings in this easy air fryer mushrooms recipe are just right, but you can easily make a few customizations for a different flavor. Try adding parmesan cheese, onion powder, chili powder, or fresh thyme. You can also toss the mushrooms in a very small amount of soy sauce or balsamic vinegar for a tangy kick.
Should You Preheat Your Air Fryer?
A preheated air fryer will help your food cook faster so absolutely preheat the air fryer whenever possible. Even just a couple of minutes can help! But know that if you forget it will still work out. You might just require a few extra minutes of cooking at the end.
What Air Fryer is Recommended
There are so many options out there and you do not need a pricey air fryer to make yummy food. When I first start using an air fryer I purchased a Bosh Compact Air Fryer and it was under $40. The price tag appealed to me because at the time I wasn’t sure how often I’d use it! It’s a smaller air fryer but perfect if you’re cooking for one or two people.
Since then I’ve moved to this Cuisinart Convection Air Fryer which is also a toaster oven. It’s big enough to cook a lot of food at once! Plus it looks nice and I keep it on the counter (I mentioned that I use it everyday so there’s no point in storing it elsewhere). It comes in white, silver, and black. I have it in white and my sister has it in silver.
This GoWise 7 Quart Air Fryer is my favorite basket style option. It holds a lot of food and is reasonably priced for an air fryer of this size. Since your food cooks in a fairly deep basket you’ll want to be sure to stir or shake the ingredients about halfway through cooking.
How to Store Air Fryer Sliced Mushrooms
Store these cooked mushrooms in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
