These easy turkey burgers are made with dijon mustard and coconut aminos to keep them perfectly juicy! Plus plenty of seasoning of course!

Alright, let’s be real. Once upon a time I didn’t love ground turkey. There. I said it. I was team ground beef all the way.

And then I figured out how to make it work for me and, friend, I am now a ground turkey believer! With the right amount of seasoning and a gentle touch when handling it (that’s important) IT IS SUCH A PHENOMENAL INGREDIENT. (Psst if you want more tips on how to work with ground turkey you’ll find a list of my top 5 in this list of 15+ Ground Beef or Turkey Recipes.

My original Cilantro Turkey Burgers earn rave reviews and we’ve probably made them no less than 100 times at my house. They’re simple and flavorful! I set out to create another version that didn’t require fresh herbs. These Dijon Turkey Burgers contain ingredients you probably already keep at home so they’re perfect for when fresh cilantro just isn’t an option.

How to enjoy? Now obviously you can serve these delicious burgers on a bun. Another idea is to slice up a sweet potato. Create rounds that you sauté or bake for a healthy “bun” substitute! Wanting something low carb? How about in a bowl with roasted veggies or in a lettuce wrap? YUM!

Add your favorite burger toppings like tomato, lettuce, red onion, or avocado. Don’t forget my 3-Ingredient Honey Mustard (seen in these photos). It’s so simple and really amps up the mustard flavor!

These easy turkey burgers are made with dijon mustard and coconut aminos to keep them perfectly juicy! Plus plenty of seasoning of course!
Prep: 10 minutes
Cook: 15 minutes
Total: 25 minutes
Servings: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground turkey
  • 2 tbsp dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp coconut aminos
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tsp olive oil, extra virgin

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients EXCEPT THE OLIVE OIL to a large bowl. Use your hands to combine ingredients.
  • Form into four patties. If you're not grilling immediately place the patties on a plate and cover with plastic wrap in the refrigerator. (Ground turkey is very soft and it will firm up the refrigerator. Don't let it sit out any longer than necessary.)
  • Heat the grill to medium-high heat.
  • Brush olive oil on both sides of each burger. Gently place each patty on the grill.
  • Sear until brown, about 5 to 6 minutes. Do not flip your burger too early or it will fall apart. When it's sufficiently browned on one side, flip. Sear remaining side until browned and patty is cooked through, another 5 to 6 minutes. Remove from the grill and serve!
  • To prepare in a skillet instead of on a grill, simply heat a skillet (I use my cast iron for this) to medium heat. Once hot, carefully place your patties to the skillet. You'll start to get that sear right away. Let the patties cook for about 5 minutes before flipping. Cook on the other side for another 5 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 165° fahrenheit. Actual cooking time varies depending on how thick your patties are.

Notes

These patties do great frozen too. If you want to make a big batch to use for a later date, just form your patties and lay them flat on parchment paper in the freezer. Once completely frozen you can stack one on top of the other. I wouldn’t do that until frozen or they’ll stick together.

I have been on the search for a good homemade turkey burger recipe for 3 years and honestly gave up trying it. I have loved every recipe from The Whole Cook, but I did not have high expectations for this, since every other turkey burger recipe was a fail for me. I just thought it wasn’t our thing. But DANG was I wrong! This recipe is SO good! My husband is already wanting to make more of them 3 days later…I consider that a huge win!

This means so much to me! We were also hesitant to get on board with ground turkey burgers but had to because of my husband’s recent beef allergy. I do love this one and the Cilantro Turkey Burgers so much! They made us turkey burger believers!

These were amazing and so flavorful! In the past, all the turkey burgers I’ve made have turned out dry, but not these!

I’m so happy to hear that!

This was fantastic! Not too mustardy, just delicious. A little too salty for me, so I’ll cut that in half next time. Looking forward to trying the cilantro turkey burgers!
