This frozen yogurt is made from only 3 simple ingredients and it’s ready fast! This easy recipe is a healthy alternative to ice cream and the perfect sweet treat that’s actually good for you.
Update: This recipe was originally published on July 3, 2017 and has been republished with all new photos.
My sweet tooth goes into overdrive on a sunny summer afternoon, how about yours? This healthy frozen yogurt is a great way to satisfy that craving. Store-bought froyo or ice cream has tons of added sugar plus high fructose corn syrup and ingredients you can’t even pronounce. Homemade ice cream is of course delicious but requires extra work and patience. Using an ice cream machine is just not my idea of a good time.
This version contains fewer calories and honey instead of so much sugar. We’re using frozen fruit as the primary ingredient to help us quickly achieve the consistency we want. It has a creamy texture but requires no ice cream maker! No churning! We’re just blending a few ingredients in a blender or food processor. Then enjoy immediately or freeze for a little bit if you want it to firm up more.
You’ll love this frozen yogurt on a hot summer day. It’s so refreshing and truly a better choice for the ultimate summer dessert. And hey if you want to enjoy it in December I won’t blame you. I’ll be right there with you too.
Next time you’re contemplating a trip to the grocery store for a sweet snack I recommend giving this homemade frozen yogurt a try instead!

Healthy Homemade Peach Frozen Yogurt Ingredients
- Frozen peaches: We’re including lots of frozen peaches in this delicious frozen yogurt for maximum peach flavor. Since they’re already frozen they also help us achieve the texture we want quickly!
- Plain unsweetened yogurt: Use any yogurt you like. I opt for plain unsweetened whole milk greek yogurt but low fat or non fat work too (keep in mind that the less fat you include the less creamy your finished frozen yogurt will be).
- Honey: Honey is my sweetener of choice for this frozen yogurt. It has anti-inflammatory properties and a lower glycemic index than sugar, meaning it won’t spike your blood sugar levels as quickly. I am often asked if maple syrup will work and haven’t personally tested this recipe with it so let me know if you do. It has a more pronounced flavor than honey so I expect it would alter the finished taste.
How to Make Peach Frozen Yogurt
Add frozen peaches, yogurt, and honey to your blender or food processor and blend until smooth and creamy. I like to stir extra diced frozen peaches into the yogurt mixture at the end.
Serve right away if you want to enjoy it while very soft. For a frozen yogurt texture, spread in a loaf pan or another similarly sized airtight container. Freeze for 1 to 2 hours, until frozen but creamy when scooped. If you leave it in the freezer too long simply let it thaw at room temperature for 15 to 20 minutes or until scoopable again.
What Kind of Yogurt is Best to Use in Frozen Yogurt?
You can use a regular yogurt or a greek yogurt. I use full-fat greek yogurt because that bit of fat helps make the finished frozen yogurt creamy. The more fat in your yogurt, the creamier your frozen yogurt will be. Low fat or non fat are good options but the lack of fat will give a slightly less creamy result. Really any plain yogurt will work.
You can even use a sweetened yogurt if you prefer. I’d recommend reducing or omitting the honey if you do so. Just give it a taste before freezing and adjust as needed.
I like to stick with unflavored yogurt so that the flavor of fruit can really shine. But other yogurt flavors can be used if you don’t mind the change to the taste.
Can You Use Fresh Fruit Instead of Frozen Fruit?
The frozen fruit helps give us the consistency we want in the final product. So you can use fresh fruit but you’d need to freeze it first!
To freeze your own fruit, slice the peaches into smaller pieces and spread them on a parchment paper lined baking sheet. If your baking sheet is too large to fit in your freezer you can use several plates. I don’t recommend freezing the fruit in a bowl or deep dish because when frozen the pieces will be stuck together and difficult to work with. Store in the freezer until frozen, about 8 hours or overnight depending on the size of your fruit slices.
Can You Use a Different Fruit?
Yes, another fruit will work too. Strawberries are an excellent choice in this healthier alternative to regular ice cream. Taste after blending and adjust the honey to achieve the right amount of sweetness.

Wow, the Creamy Peach frozen yogurt looks amazing !:) It also sounds healthy so I am SOLD! 🙂
I totally want to try it! 🙂
I gotta try this! Love your recipes, and this one especially. Peaches are such a great summer treat. I’m so sorry the peach crop was so impacted by the weird weather this spring in GA. I miss my large, juicy GA peaches!
Oh that’s so unfortunate! The strawberries by us were hit by too much rain in our area. Made for a lot of soggy ones unfortunately. And thank you so much for the sweet words!
Homemade frozen yogurt sounds awesome, and peach is a wonderful, Southern, Summer flavor. I bet this tastes and smells divine! love the photos. 🙂
Thank you so much! It’s yummy and, you’re right, totally Southern. 🙂
Wow this looks so easy and yummy! Can you do it with any frozen fruit, like strawberries or pineapple?
You definitely can but the amount of yogurt and honey varies depending on what fruit you’re using!
This is such a great healthy alternative to ice cream! Definitely going to try this out 🙂
This is so refreshing and delicious!! My kids have asked for it again and again! It’s the perfect summer treat! 🍑💛
