This Beef & Broccoli is fast and flavorful! Perfect for busy weeknights because it’s ready in under 30 minutes. Tender strips of sirloin in an easy marinade and crunchy broccoli florets. This one is a family favorite!
For my version I wanted to create just the right balance of flavor. Plenty of garlic, obviously.
I also didn’t want to overwhelm all the other ingredients with soy sauce. My solution for this was to not use soy sauce at all. Gasp. It’s going to be okay, folks. Instead I opted for Coconut Aminos. Ever heard of this? If not, prepare to be amazed. It’s a sauce made from the sap of the coconut tree. It does not taste like coconut. The flavor is very much like a soy sauce but a bit milder. And it’s not made with sugar! If you’re skeptical, I hear ya. But you’re going to want to try this out and soon I bet you’ll be using it as a marinade for everything under the sun. The brand I use is Coconut Secret and I’ve been able to find it in basically every natural food store plus the occasional regular grocery store.
Finally, fresh green broccoli gives this entree some color and crunch.
You can serve with traditional rice, cauliflower rice, or nothing at all. I personally love it on cauliflower rice but it’s satisfying enough to enjoy alone.

Ingredients
Beef & Broccoli
- 1 lb sirloin or flank steak, cut into small 1/4 inch thick pieces
- 16 oz fresh broccoli florets
- 2 tbsp olive oil, extra virgin
- salt and pepper to taste
- additional Coconut Aminos for drizzling
Marinade
- 1/3 cup Coconut Aminos
- 1 tsp garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
Instructions
- Marinate steak in all marinade ingredients for a minimum of 20 minutes.
- Add olive oil to skillet on medium high heat. Once skillet is hot, add beef in a single layer. Do not pour in marinade that hasn’t been absorbed. Leave that in the container you used for marinating. If you add it now it will make it more difficult to brown our steak. We’ll deal with it in a few minutes.) Sauté steak so that all sides get a bit of crispy browning. Beef doesn’t need to be completely cooked through when done.
- Reduce heat to medium. Add the broccoli florets, any leftover marinade, and 1/2 cup water. Salt and pepper. Stir. Cover and let broccoli steam until tender, about 4 to 5 minutes.
- Top with green onions or sesame seeds before serving if you're after a little crunch. Enjoy!

I love including broccoli in my meals. This recipe is delicious, Christina, especially because you combined it with beef.
Thanks so much, Agness! We love broccoli in our house!
is this recipe using fresh ginger or dry
You can use either but I use ground ginger. I edited the recipe to make that clear. Thanks for the question!
Whole family loved it! My 8 year old doesn’t normally like beef (unless it’s a hamburger) he liked this! First time I was able to have (make) him eat broccoli in forever! My husband even said, “It’s got a great flavor” Which is not something I normally hear when referring to one of my meals. Haven’t started a round of Whole30 yet, but have been testing things out. Very excited to have meals the whole family can eat together!!! Love your recipes
Amazing! Family loved it! Even my non-beef eating vegetable hating 8 year old liked it!! That’s a super win!!
This was one of the best meals ever. My kids ate it and my husband did too. I marinated the beef for most of the day so it would be really flavorful. It was perfect. A copy-cat to take out beef and broccoli for sure. Thanks, Christina!Â
I made this last night for my hubby and myself. It was easy, quick, and very flavorful for so few ingredients!!! Can’t wait for leftovers for lunch today!
Yummmmm. Perfect flavor and I love that I didn’t need to make a separate sauce. We served this over some riced cauliflower, delicious and ultra flavorful.Â
Love this, another of my make almost every week recipes! The marinade is so good. Quick, easy, healthy. We love it as is but have also had over ramen or rice.Â
Thank you, Heidi! It’s been a while since I’ve made this one and you’re reminding me that I need to add it back to my rotation!
