This easy hot honey recipe requires only 3 ingredients and less than 5 minutes! No cooking involved! Use as a dip for chicken or fries, drizzle over roasted veggies or pizza, and add to your charcuterie board.
I love hot honey and have purchased so many bottles of it from the grocery store over the last few years. It’s been quickly growing in popularity and everyone is singing the praises of hot honey these days! It’s a pantry staple in my home. Low and behold one day I discovered I didn’t have any and wild horses couldn’t have made me get in that car to restock. So instead I started playing with a few simple ingredients until I created my own hot honey!
For those of you who might be new to this spicy condiment, it has a unique flavor and can be used as a dip or topping for so many yummy dishes. You can adjust the heat level until you have it just how you like it. The finished sauce is the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. It’s an easy way to take any entree or side up a notch by adding a kick of heat.
To make this spicy honey you only need 3 ingredients. We’re going to stir them together and call it a day. It doesn’t get easier than that, friends. No simmering on the stovetop and no straining required! Let’s not complicate what doesn’t need to be complicated.
If you’re a fan of spicy food, I highly recommend you whip up this spicy-sweet condiment immediately. Add a drizzle of hot honey to whatever you’re serving and enjoy an added kick of sweet heat!
Hot Honey Sauce Ingredients
- Honey: I’ve made this hot honey with both clover honey and raw honey. Either option works well. If you can find a local honey that’s great! Just choose the bottle of honey you prefer.
- Hot sauce: You can use any type of hot sauce you like. I use Texas Pete in this hot honey sauce recipe because it has a good amount of vinegar.
- Chili powder: This is the only seasoning you need in this easy recipe.
How to Make Hot Honey Sauce
Stir the honey, hot sauce, and chili powder together in a small bowl until well combined. Taste and adjust the spice level by adding more hot sauce if you’d like a spicier hot honey or more honey if you’d prefer it sweeter.
How spicy is hot honey
The best part about making this homemade hot honey recipe is that you can adjust the heat level based on your own preferences. You can’t do that with a store-bought version, friends! I recommend making it per recipe instructions and then tasting to see what you’d like to adjust. Add more honey for extra sweetness or more hot sauce for more heat.
